He reckons it is doable and so I would like to gauge interest in this.

We are looking at a rough guess of £100 - depends on quantity and whether it is viable.

I'll loan Felix a spare rear wheel to get a look at this.

benefits - you lose that bloody heavy rod inside the rear hub. HOw heavy is it? Anyone got one lying about? Will look awesome too..

Problems - err..should be reliable,

@ Reverse Cyl Jim - Is he up near you mate? Might be worth a visit ;)

I could machine these if we need, I was just thinking it would be cheaper to have the original man do it as he might have the CNC program etc but I guess the profile he used would be a bit different as it was for the Ducati wheel.

Looking at it we could take some weight out the axle at the same time, esp if the spline that holds the rod is removed at the same time.

I will draw up what we need and cost it up, I just cant do it in a hurry as it will be a back burner project.

wow, that sounds just the ticket. I don't think anyone was wanting it now, now, now! It was a nice idea and would be great if came about.
I have a second axle now so you're welcome to have it to look at it if you don't have one handy, just don't knacker it!

Right on gang.

Felix, our man with the skills, is in a position to borrow a wheel so he can make some moves with this.

I'll take an axle out my bike and get this rolling.

We have also been offered a six sided nut instead of the more expensive ducati/MV style.

Are we going to do this or what?

I want an axl and 6 sided nut
SLO12 - wants two nuts (6 sided or MV/Ducati style?)

Please PM me or make it very clear in here that we are good to go.

Doubt it mate - will ask and see what he can do. Ideally it will be 36/41/46 - so we all have these sockets anyways!!

I'm down for it - group buys are a ballache fo sho..

I'll be sending no9 axle up to him in the next couple weeks and we'll go from there. It wuld be good to see what the final pricing comes out at.

I'll mail him ref the socket size.

I'll bet Geoff can sort axles out...

Note from Felix - he was looking at 55mm hex for the nut. As it stands, we'd all need to buy a 55mm socket for that, so might as well buy a pimp bi-hex instead.

I think this is cool..no9 is going to love it.

RS axle Tony..yummy..
