You mentioned full throttle and only goes to 1000rpm.

Have you had it over this at any point, and if so.. how did you get it there?
If it's by adjusting the choke for example, could it maybe be a stuck throttle cable / linkage?

I'm also a bit of a newbie... so not sure if this helps much...
:?

Hiya, have you turned the tickover up? 1000 sounds very low. You may find that when its up at about 1400 its a lot better.

so when you open the throttle does the engine bog down and die as though its trying to pick up and get going? or does it just stay as it is at1200rpm with no change at all.

If its the first then its down to the carbs and fuel system.
Check the simple things first, are the carbs drawing fuel okay, check the vacuum pipe is operating correctly and has no kinks, next that the fuel line has nothing in it and the diaphragm on the petcock is operating with no splits. You could drop the whole fuel tap out to check the tubing hasnt been blocked by crap in the tank.

If okay move inwards, check the air filter is not clogged up and the box is seated on the carb rubbers correctly to keep pressure up.

If all okay move down to the carbs, first check the cables in case the choke mechanism is holding the slides open this causing slight hesitation on pickup.
If all good then i'm afraid off with the carbs, check the float chambers are clean and the floats are moving freely, as your there check the needles and jets are clear(and a good size for your setup) and the slides are moving freely.

If not this then as you've started on the electrical just move from the obvious (plugs and lead) outwards, it could be worth checking the reg/rec as the joints and conections on these can rot and leave you a lose wire there.

Possible it could be the coils but unlike them to go at the same time unless there is a grounding fault somehwhere.

Good luck and at the end of the day your getting to check the bike over very well

Mate your best bet would probably be to take it to someone who knows these bikes well.

I would take the carbs off the other bike and try them on it.....that should in theory rule out the fuel problem ;)

well heres a update

wiggled around with wires to cdi and works to a fashion , so have now changed the whole loom (thats fun lol)and start first time and reved but was late so couldnt give it a good rev

1 question if you rev on spot should it rev out cleanly ??

2 has anyone got a picture of how all the airbox intake flaps and stuff sit
