if i could get those holes, in that place ,on my panels ,i'd love it long time, surely it would bring heat temps down a bit
Has anyone ever ran their bike with, then without their fairings and seen how much the temp is reduced by?

I've ridden a later model Blade - Honda phased out the drilled fairings by the late 90s. Kinda hard to tell though, as there were too many other changes. My RRN model definately felt more flighty, but I doubt that was much down to the Black'n'Deckered bodywork.

Found something related... mostly useless banter, but the 2nd post and 2nd-last post are worth reading.

Hiya,
i found that a good way of drilling holes in a pattern is to use lid off an old car stereo as a guide there usually full of holes and aranged in a nice pattern! Just bend to right ish shape, tape to pannel and drill away!
Cheers

Am I the only one who thinks they run cool? :S
I've drawn arrows to show where the temperature needle stays.
The 24 barely goes into the warm mark
Here:
The 35 isn't too far off from the 24 either...
Here:
They warm up till the fan comes on if left idling / sitting in traffic etc, but 30mph+ crusing and the temp is rock steady.

You should come down under and see how hot they get - without a fan!
Have to kill the ignition at every set of lights. Although that is with some erm, mild mods.
But drilled fairings are only for wind resistance, not engine temp. It doesn't make sense to drill the sides of a fairing for better air flow when all the air enters the front?

ah, mine still have fans :D
The front holes may help on cooling / ram air but I think the concensus is that the side holes are there for wind resistance.
