Let's put it this way....it took less than 20 inch pounds of force to start rotating the entire rotating assembly minus the cams. That's crank...pistons and rods and the complete transmission.

Good ceramic bearings are noticably better than their steel counterparts. We were instructed to run the wheel bearings dry with no dust seals. I'm not brave enough to try it yet but the supplier said no problem...they'd be fine. Try that with steel bearings.

I think they use ceramic races in model jet engines, super high speed and not alot of oil. They were using them in model rc cars as well, less weight and better at high speed. Using them in the engine would be a better option, were things are spining much faster( friction been expanential to speed), so would make more difference.
But in the real world i should think having a poo before you ride would make more difference????!!!

I hadn't :D I guess they'd be the way forward then :-) Plus with no sleep for the past week or so I only read as far as somebody buying ceramic bearings, I hadn't figured they'd done everythign else possible first :)

We haven't done everything possible yet. But the projects are getting more expensive everytime we try to make some more HP or drop another few lbs.

I am about to embark on my first Carbon Fiber project. It seems similar to working with fiberglass only with more expensive components.

Were gonna start out a little more simple than to take that one on right away.

Simple stuff like the bracket for the new battery. An exhaust hanger and such.

Later it will be fabricated fuel tank with a carbon fiber cover. That paves the way to do another relocation of the electronis to under the fuel tank dummy.

Since my tuner just bought one and my friend Henry in the UK is breaking it down to box up and ship over there will be more than one being developed in the future.
