Re: This is my RVF rebuild...
I quite agree. The one that this was copied from was in a very sorry state after being in less than ideal conditions for a little while. However I treated it, prepped it and then coated it in high temp paint and does look to a high standard. Its now on Shokrabis bike.Stickshift wrote:Being based on the hrc system it does look quite similar.
Full hrc systems were only available in mild steel, the condition of most is not A1 these days. There's one in typical condition on yahoo at the moment.

However given the choice of the techinically genuine article and the one I have, Id take mine, its in better nick and it wont rust. It will essentially work in exactly the same way as Shokrabis so in my reckoning is to no less value.
Is that acknowledgement that it does look like one then?Gavin jap4 wrote: so its a copy of a HRC system not a actual HRC system
Oh well I have just assembled a pair of new calipers, so time to polish a turd I reckon.

Re: This is my RVF rebuild...
Right so today I got busy doing more stuff. One of them was investigating the induction system to the bike.

I plan to run a HRC carb tray, with HRC carbs and a K an N filter (just because it there, I know the stock is damn good) in a stock airbox if it all possible. I also have a cut and re-sealed tank as shown. This has been done to utilise the air tubes as a means of keeping the carbs cool and also helping to pressurise it in there a bit like ram air.
So as I was gazing in I noticed that the edges are quite, well rough.

Will I need to filler and smooth the channel into the air box?

Thats the front section of the tank that I will be working with.
I was thinking in terms of turbulence etc.
Has any body else done this or seen it? Should I just leave it an go for it?
