My advice would be to get the rest of the o rings and do the lot now or you'll just end up taking the carbs off again to do the rest of them.

The ones that I had were sent to me by someone from BCF forum so I'm not sure which ones I need and what size or where to get the from....all I know to start with is Viton (I think that's what they are called).

When I call the mechanic later I'll ask which ones we replaced and which ones we haven't, but where do I go from there?

Please excuse me if I'm being a bit thick at the moment - work is doing my nut in (hence skyving on the net )

If you read all the way down Tony Sleep's carb page, he tells you exactly what sizes, materials and order codes the O rings are along with the places to get them.

Hi Chalky. Could you tell where the petrol was leaking from? And what did you fiddle with to fix it, or was it just the float height?

Hi Steve, the petrol was pouring out from the nipples on the bottom of the float bowls. We did fiddle with the float heights as none of them were the same height, and scarily enough the idle screws were nowhere near the correct settings either.

Having set the float heights at 20mm and putting the carbs back on the bike for a quick test, the engine died when it was taken off choke. By this time tho, the mech had to call it a day and gave me a lift home.




And for a bit of an update: I promtly ordered a set of main jet holder gaskets, which still haven't turned up. Could not wait for Royal Mail's rediculous 15 work day rule to try and claim from them so on Friday I ordered more with request for Special Delivery.

If luck is on my side, I'm really hoping to have the bike back this Friday as I'm really starting to miss it

Time for another update guys.

So that Friday I mentioned in my last post? Yes, it went without my bike
I called the mech on Tuesday and he has the gaskets, but also a shed load of work, being self employed he has to juggle the lot.

He did say that he would try and work on it this work, but I'm wondering if I'm even going to see my bike before the new year, what with the holiday and all. I know it's not the mechanic's fault, I just don't like being without my bike is all lol.

I shall update again, when I have more news.

So a lot of time has passed that I have sadly been without my bike.

Honestly I can say that I'm glad I was unable to ride the past few months as all I have heard from other bikers is accidents :S.

The float heights are set and the carbs are going back on tomorrow, I just hope they don't start leaking like they did last time!!

Fingers crossed, because I know that the GSXR 400 is a little monster when it runs smoothely.

Your not the only one going through this problem just taken my bike off the road awaiting the parts. I don't think its wise to ride it while running bad.

It's not fair is it lol. It's a good learning curve though, as it has tought me a fair bit.

I think the bike could have been a much bigger success if it wasn't for the carb problems (ok, it could do with being a little less cramped as well ).
