Lifting the needles will speed up the richness of the transition phase from needle to main-jet, it won't affect the low down at all as the needle isnt being used.

If its not picking up well the either pilot ciruit is blocked, air filter is blocked or float height and air screws are not set right.

Trying to fix the issue by "guessing" wont work, you need to understand how any changes you make alter the carburation of the bike.

Have you had any dynoing done?

Are you trying the fueling while riding or just bliping the thorttle while its stood? You cant set the fueling by bliping the throttle stood still, it has to be done while under load either on dyno or riding.

It must be float height then because everything else has been checked, the bike has always ran well on the road but never liked it when you give it a quickish handfull of throttle when stood still & warmed up it would kill the motor its been layed up for 7-8 years so carbs have been stripped cleaned ,synchronised new filetr etc, should i be raising or lowering the floats ? i think it need less fuel

Are you just trying to get it to blip right at stand still? Sorry i'm lost as to what your doing, if its running right when your riding if leave it alone it not far off, you'll never get a old carbed 400 to rev in neutral like a injected 1000, mine wont blip very well but i dont mind cos its great when its under load.

The issue is it has a slight miss at low revs, around 4-5 k when pulling out of a corner on a typical street - i have new plugs on order as the existing are 7-8 years old but only done 1200 miles - i will get to the bottom of it.

I'd try and give the carbs another clean out, then put them back to standard, I tried putting the extra washers in my nc30 and it miss firing like yours.

Update,

Turned the pilot screws to around 3 -3.5 turns out and the bike is considerably better when warm from low revs it doesn't seem to miss from 2k pulling out of the typical street taking it easy as you should in normal riding conditions also seems to pull right to 14-15 k without a drama.

What does that tell me .............I am asking because i dont know if it will be ok long term I read 2-2.25 or 2.5 turns out pilots is the norm with a standard motor and a end can.

Come on give me the drill experts am i masking a issue that should be investigated or should i just ride the f@#king thing.
