Re: Zed 400 AMA style
Well the tank sealing kit seems to have worked, its had petrol in it for over a week now with no leaks so im happy thats sealed. It has presented a new problem though being a leaky inside left carb, a slow drip from the overflow so probably a sticky float but i havent investigated this yet.
Seal kit for the GSXR1100 clutch slave cylinder arrived and soon realised the seals are completely different so its not a GSXR slave cylinder
I then trawled ebay to find a slave cylinder that matched the one i have and come up with a VF500 item, it looks indentical but it wasnt to be as the 2nd seal kit i ordered didnt fit either. I think best option now it buy a GSXR1100 slave cylinder and use one of the seal kits ive already got to overhaul it.
Front brake master cylinder needed changing due to a miss match with the calipers and have since tried a NC24, NC23 and NC30 master cylinders with no joy, i eventually got a VFR750 RC24 one to get some feeling in the lever but its not great.
Replaced the dodgy sump gasket only to find the sump plug thread was threaded and leaking oil, so out came all the oil and i found a new old stock sump in a dealer for £30, bargin i thought and the bike now holds oil. Once ive given the exhaust a new coat of paint i can start the old girl up, ive been told the pipe is horrendously loud
An italian firm called Marving make a decent looking system thats bound to be more socially acceptable and its under £300 supplied through Wemoto so thats in the pipeline.
A bit of digging on the tinternet and ive found some old sites relating to the bike and found some rather nice pics and more details as to what bits from other bikes are fitted.
Gpz 750 Unitrack forks (anti dive blanked off)
CBR600 3 spoke front wheel and brakes
GPZ750 Unitrack swinging arm converted to twin shock
CBR600 rear wheel and brake
I always thought the brakes were GPZ750 which might be why i keep mismatching master cylinders
