You better order a new nut and bolt if you're going to hack it off then as its not a common size. Get yourself the tools to get the hub off, get it on the bench and make a good job of it. While it's out take the opportunity to clean the hub up, clean out the swingarm and sort the caliper. Pop the pistons out to see if there in a serviceable condition and either clean the them up or replace them along with NEW seals using red rubber grease on them.

I would think some people have aftermarket discs that may fit over the hub, mine was a standard Honda disc and wouldn't go. if your having problems taking the nut off, take the hub out it'll make life easier as it'll prob have to come out anyway!
And the caliper will need the pistons pumping out and cleaning behind the seals.

3 pages already only 97 to go!?

okay well my disc came, and its got nuts and bolts with it. i think il just take the hub off then...seems like a good opportunity to clean it all up and i could use the allen keys on the bolt and grip the nut with mole grips to see if itl come out.

Haynes says the standard rear disc comes off without removing the hub. I guess it's still a pain in the arse job and probably quicker and easier in some respects to rip the whole back end off the arm and tidy everything up. The amount of crap that can get in and around the eccentric makes one hell of a difference when adjusting the chain.

Take note, the hub nut is very tight. You'll need more than a normal 1/2" ratchet to undo it......
It is worth stripping, cleaning & lubing if you get chance.

It sounds like the rear brake wants stripping, lubing & rebuilding. Probably best left to a competent mechanic in all fairness :wink:

I told you how to go about getting the bolt out on facebook, so go down that route before you do anything more....erm....radical Image

As the Munky man says below it would be an ideal opertunity to service the whole of the back end IE Hub assy, swing arm and to check the rear caliper. It is winter now so there is no rush - just take it steady and do one job at a time and do each one "properly" and come the spring you will have a bike that not only passes the MOT, but is also safe and a pleasure to ride. :peace:

haha yeah thanks. i am, i ordered the irwin nut remover and it should arrive tomorrow hopefully, i will try and get it out. i will also need to order a 46mm socket from ebay to remove the hub nut.

Aren't you recommended to replace the hub nut if you take it off on account of it being staked on? Not that many people probably take much notice, of course... lol

Also, both the NC35 and NC30 fiches list the hub nut as 38mm, or am I looking at the wrong part? Or is that 38mm thread, not 38mm across the flats?
