Carb seal kits

@maelstrom, if there is a go for these carb kits for the RVF and prices are reasonable...just let me know or post here it or sent me pm, as a couple of extra carb kits as spares would be ideally.

The kits won't be finished for 8 to 10 weeks anyway. Since no one else offers or sell seals for the throttle shafts it is not a high priority. Once I get to the bottom of it and come up with a workable solution then I will just have the shaft seals as an option. If all else fails I will buy a secondhand body at some stage and go to work on it.

I look at it this way. It went in, unless they cast the entire carb body around it. If it went in, it must come out. The question is if it causes terminal damage to something on the way! Hence why there's no way I'm trying with the current set of spare carbs... lol

I'm happy to be called an idiot when I'm sat with a shaft in one hand and a ruined carb body in the other :D

The genuine parts for the NC35, which is split into two kits, I have arriving soon.
Does anyone have a floatbowl and carb top cap that they could lend to me??? Free kit for you! I don't really want to buy a full set of carbs off ebay.

NC30
I have attached a parts diagram for the NC30L in pdf format.
It seems there is just one kit for these, that being, 16010MR8003 which has been superseded by 16010-MR8-505.
Does this sound correct and does it fit all NC30 models?
I found a price on line 46 GBP, oh too funny, and that is just for one carb it seems.
I found another parts listing but that was for a very early model, the one with the skinny frame I believe.

Yeah, the £46 is about right. There's a couple of plastic looking parts and two more o-rings in the NC30 kit that aren't in the NC35 one, but I don't really know how that justifies such a difference in price! And yes, seal kits are per carb. Amongst the bits in my recent order from CMS are four carb kits and the joint pipe o-rings, and despite being cheaper than DSS, they still weighed in at roughly a ton. Another example of expensive Honda part labels, which prompted my exercise in hypothetically building the bike from new spares. I've nearly finished that project, and the figures are silly! FWIW, I don't trust pattern parts as I've known too many people use them from various sources and find them to be rubbish. However, when members of an enthusiasts forum start making bits, I figure that's a bit different. As they clearly want cheaper bits that actually work for their own bike rather than leak like a sieve, they're clearly not going to make stuff that is cheap and nasty.

Mine should be arriving soon too. About £17 each for the carb kits and £26 for the joint pipe o-rings...

If you haven't had a better offer by the time I have my carbs sorted, you are welcome to borrow the relevant parts from mine.

Now about the pattern part thing. As far as I am concerned the new part has to be as good if not better than the original. I don't compromise on anything. I could just use Nitrile for the parts that don't come in contact with fuel. But I want Viton for my bike, so why would I sell Nitrile to someone else? I could just sell phillips screws for the butterfly shafts, everyone else does. Why do they bother selling the wrong screw? You can buy the wrong screw at your local supply shop. However, the screws are not phillips they are JIS cross head and I either have them or nothing. One poster mentioned a link to someone installing new bushes in their Austin A40 or whatever it was. If I had to recondition my shafts I would use either Titanium DiBoride, Titanium Nitride, or hardchrome in that order. It might sound expensive, but it makes more sense than paying hundreds of dollars for some Nitrile O-Rings and a couple of odd shaped moulded parts. I would like to open a discussion about the the tribological properties of throttle shafts in aluminium housings, but I come across as too critical, cynical etc etc. I end up pissing people off. So no matter how particular you are there is a good chance that I am worse. It does not make sense from a commercial point of view to be so picky, but I am not a shop selling other people's stuff. If someone has a problem with something they bought from me then I am in a position to do something about it or give them their money back. If I never make any money out of this then at least I tried, and I will have a 100 lifetime's supply of good bits for myself. .
