Amateur hour at the sticker shop, but at least it's finally sporting the right numbers.

Anyone recognize the tail piece, I know it's not FZR, I suspect TZ but I dunno what year? It's cracked on both sides so I'll need to replace it eventually and I like the look.

Nice bike! The tail looks like one of BDK's TZ shaped seats (or a copy of it)-

You're better off patching it inside and using a resin on the outside

Looks like the tail is indeed a BDK copy (Fiberglass) on a BDK subframe, good eye!

Didn't BDK offer a full carbon fairing set at one point also? I don't see one listed on their site, but I could have sworn they did at one point?

Yes they offerred it. Their carbon man got sick then the mould got trashed a bit (apparently).

It could be possible to make them but you're looking at serious outlay for the moulds - I spoke to Morepower about it but without knowing numbers it's a bit a pipedream ATM

I've got a local guy who could copy existing panels into fresh molds and carbon or fiberglass bits, but that seems like a waste when as near as I can tell there are still as couple places making fresh 3TJ bodywork for relatively reasonable prices. A16 Road 'N' Race offers a full kit, including windscreen for approx $350, ARD's pre-colored stuff is intriguing as well. There is also Skidmarx?

So, while carbon would be sweet and match the tank... unless it comes back on the market without a huge premium over the fiberglass stuff I'll just have to put up with glass for now.

Or I can keep my fingers crossed that the new wood pulp based stuff comes to market sooner... One tenth the cost of CF, stronger than CF or Kevlar or any of the other ballistic aramid fibers. And it's transparent! :D

I hadn't heard about woopulp.

Did you know there was a scheme to make aircraft carriers out of sawdust and ice in WW2 and that the longrange tanks on the P51D aircraft were made from paper machet

Got the machine on the track, I was not prepared for the speed of this thing in a straight line. First time I've been intimidated by a bike at the track in a long time. Completely threw my reference points off so I was pretty slow today. That said, had a ball.

Only casualty seems to be my front fairing stay/mirror mount bracket. The weld is failing causing the fairings to slowly droop down in the front. D-oh! I'll see if I can find someone locally to reweld it, in the mean time is there a racer replacement on the market in the UK?
