Stop asking n00b questions then!
Honestly, if there was a fund that had a pound added to it every time someone who'd just bought a classic-shaped motorcycle came on here and said-
"I@VE JUST GOT MESEL A fzr400 WILL R6 FAIRING'S BOLT STRAIGHT ON OR WHAT I WANT TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE MODERN AND THAT AND WOT EXHAUST FITS CAN I MAKE IT FASTER?, innit."*
There'd be at least a few quid.
So, I'd suggest forgetting (for now) about doing anything to the bodywork unless it's going to be a keeper (which it's probably not). It'll make it easier to sell when you do come to sell it, and make it less likely to be sold on as a 'project' or 'easy repair' on ebay or gumtree. Pass your test, enjoy the bike and the summer and buy an R6 when you can afford one. Then sell the R6 and look for another 400 when you realise how good they are...
* Sorry for the attempt at txt/young person spk and shouting, and did anyone notice the rogue apostrophe in there?

Now that we've all introduced ourselves .....
Actually the chain one was going to be a setup for ... " you get a mate to help, clamp the back wheel tight and rotate the bike around it ... " It's a purile joke but I like it.

ok so here it is
plus side = it runs first time on the button.
down points. =
1.shit paint done with a craft knife/masking tape and a can of gloss from wilkinsons.
2. x2 small holes in the headers. bout 1mm wide .. sure they can be welded
3. SCREW in the front tire -_-
4. no V5/logbook/paperwork/
5. needs new lever for the rear brake.
6. needs new screen brace as it's been snapped off at the left mirror
all in all looks like a bargain for the price, and gives me something to do instead of dealing with the woman.
not sure if it's restricted or not yet. it is imported.

The screen brace comes back to just in front of the tank ??? - they're very hard to find, but you don't really need it.
The rear brake pedal is going to be easier to just replace the whole thing from e-bay
The tyre's a bit of a downer but nevermind.
The V5 .... hmmm ... they gave you a receipt and you've done the history check with a text ... if not do that before spending any money on it.
Restriction - the jap restriction comes in at 180kmh which is 112mph so you won't hit on a public road

fit a mechanical kmh > mph converter at the bottom of the speedo cable (you want a gold one), they're about £30 but you get the added bonus of being to know how fast your going. this will move the restriction to 180mph so you won't hit it. Don't try to remove anything from the speedo of disconect anything, it will just restrict the bike to 12,5k revs in all gears.

I'd say so
It takes a few weeks for the lovely people at Swansea to send a new V5, so get that done while you're sorting the bike out.
The paint and other cosmetic stuff isn't as important as sorting the brake lever and headers- crap paint won't fail an MOT! I can't help with a tyre but I do have a spare brake lever.
