woah there man!
You said it inceased your revs from 14.5 to 15,5k. I said I thought that was blag, as the std cdi will rev it;s arse off and do 15.5k easy. The NC35 HRC box is supposed to allow 16.5k if you are brave enough.. (as an aside, I have an ignitech box and have reduced my rev limit on the race bike to an accurate 14.5k)
So, can you show the inline box does anythng? If I had one, I'd flog it with a blag advert to some poor sod on ebay and be sure to do some good things elsewhere to balance out my karma.
I know what Aly says on his advert...and he knows that it doesn't do feck all too...but the advert is aimed to sell it for a higher price to someone who doesn't really know what theya re buying.
You have not been made to be a prize prick, or any sort of prick. You have just had some education from some people more nerdy than you!
The bottom line - that box allows the speedo itself to be removed, which I think is the main point of it, rather than keeping the speedo and allowing 112mph +

Wow, lots of stuff since this morning aha!
I did have a box with 4 or 5 of those 'HRC' restrictors in that came with a job lot of VFR parts... I havn't seen them in a while, and really hope they havn't got slung when I had the last major clearout as judging by the prices they seem to be going for i'd make a buck or two.
If I can find one out i'll split it and see whats inside.
The Speed derestrictor for the ZXR is only two wires to fool the clock (and yet the cost 40 - 50, and are infact just a resistor)
These do have a lot more wires on them, but I don't know if there connected to anything or that it simply acts as a pass-through.
As for the claims being made on most of the ebay adverts, lets address them logically in order and we can progress with thoughts.
'Raises rev limit' - My Thoughts: Possibly
The rev limit is controlled by the ECU, since there are lots of wires connected, the is a chance it could be fooling the ECU into thinking that the bike is revving slower that it actually is.
Removes mid-range flat spot - My Thoughts: Rubbish
The mid range flat-spot / hole is common on factory spec road bikes in that the mid-range is a little lean, raising the needles with a shim or two often cures this, since fuel delivery is goverend by mechincal carbs this box can't affect this.
Removes Speed limit - My Thoughts: True
This is easy to do, you only need a wire and resistor, this fools the ecu into thinking the restriction is still present, fitting a UK igntionbox should also bypass this as I dont' believe they were restricted.
I'd be interested to see a comparision between UK / JDM ignition boxes, see if anything besides the speed limiter are different.. i've seen a lot of UK models of bikes that are set up more agressive than their JDM counterparts.
