Got to say that looks awful on the collectors.
Also looks like the huge heavy srad can :plus:

I think you guys are correct. After looking at some pictures I bet it is a 600 SRAD system. My search continues.

For an exhaust capable of 70hp use the sandybikespares headers. link pipe from early R6 and a decent slip on can.
For more than 70hp you would need a set of headers that cross over on the collectors like the autorimmessa or customs like mine but finding them is difficult and not cheap. 65hp at the rear wheel is achieved with std headers a K&N filter and a rejet and a couple of small tweaks without any engine tuning. This is what was run on a few of the production class 76a's i have built.

Stripes,
Thanks for the info, good stuff. I might end up with that set up. I have a couple of months so I'll keep my eyes open and see if anything pops up before then.

The rebuild continues. I scored a set of pipes off Yahoo Japan. They are an early Yamamoto design. I know you guys said they weren't the best but the price was too good to pass up ($250!). Welds sure look nice to an amateur like me. I gave them a good cleaning and they look damn near new. Muffler is tweaked but I have a buddy who wants to cut it and shorten it and change the mount. If it doesn't work out I'll get something more modern but I like the old style look. It is just aluminum with a carbon wrap.

Did the test fitting and they apparently are 76 pipes. Always a bit of a gamble buying from just a picture from an auction.

I wanted to check, nobody who is using aftermarket pipes uses the standard pipes metal gaskets at the cylinder heads, correct? I know I don't on my RGV but want to double check as I put this thing back together.

yes! but all depends on the make of headers.
The exhaust gaskets give a good seal and from memory are the same as the 750 and 1100. They don't give a restriction in flow.

Is this what you guys mean by Yamamoto's not fitting properly or I am missing something here? I'm using the crush gaskets in the manifold. If I don't, the pipes don't seem to seat properly and you can rock the pipes back and fourth a bit.

The inner two pipes sit right on the radiator.

Lower rad hose sits right on the pipe.

On a brighter note the rear sets I picked up from someone on the forum cleaned up nicely.
