funny to say, i managed to get the piston out. heated up the area with a bic lighter and pumped the pedal. and away it came. the piston looks very clean, a tiny amount of surface rust.

i will need to order a set of seals and red rubber grease. but post offices are shut soooo itl be next week

done, ordered a tub of red rubber grease, a tub of copper grease for other stuff, moly lithium for bearings i,e wheel, steering stem etc?? is that right. i ordered some anyway. and piston seals and dust seals.

DO NOT USE COPPER GREASE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BACKS OF THE BRAKE PADS.

This was written a while ago for the NC24 caliper but the principle still applies to the NC30 caliper as it is the same type.

oh i wasnt planning on using copper grease at all for the brakes. i wanted to keep it for when i take the exhaust pipes off to clean them, i was gonna put the copper grease onto the studs to prevent them from seizing. i was told it is good for that as it is extremely heat resistive.

Give the backs of the pads a smear of copper grease, helps with brake squeal and stops the rust from building up. Also give the pins and plugs a good coating with it so they dont seize up, ive just given the brakes on my 800 a good clean, i completly mullered the pin plugs as they hadnt been greased up at all, the rear still needs drilling out and i nearly bent my allen key just getting the pinds undone.

Your going in the right direction with it all mate, buying grease, seals, etc before doing any more shonky cosmetics. Soon you will love your bike and wont want to get an r6, hmmm maybe not

well to be fair i no longer want an r6. if i were to move up, itl probably either be cbr600rr or daytona 675 or mv agusta f3.. or honda sp1/2 dat v-twin.....dat noise... even though i dont like v-twins that is the only bike with an exception
