You don't have to junk the starter to run total loss mate in fact for racing I would advise against it, trying to bump the bike on the grid when you get told to stop your engines cos someones crashed on the warm up lap is going to be no fun.

Yep..that is a good point Billy.. It is an option for me at least. Bumping on the grid would be a ballache indeed!

When I built the VFR/Ducati Hybrid, I went down to the local car spares place (where a mate works) and we went through all the batteries he had there - I found one of the smallest he had and used it for the VFR/Ducati special I was building.

I mounted it up under the pillion seat, and to do this it was pretty simple - I used longer length wires to attach it to the original earthing point and starting solenoid.

I made a new plate up where the pillion lock was to secure the battery in place too. There wasn't much room here but I managed to squeeze in an alarm and all the usual CDI etc and an underseat exhaust sytem.

Maybe this is of some help to you?

like the cut outs, you should make a lil funnel from them towards the gap rads/carbs, make it look a bit racy and possible help cooling or cold air to the carbs

good to still its still progressing and keep up the good work

Exhaust fully sorted and with new can. Just need to go get a 41mm socket now to bolt my forks in properly and then put some clothes on it, give it a once over and then go for a wee cruise around the block!

yikes!

So..not too long now. Might see if i can get it finished for an ACU day at Mallory..or even a trackday somewhere.. ;)
