Re: Carbon question.......
Are you still making frame covers for the 3TJ? and can you turn your hand to tank protectors too?

Re: Carbon question.......
Sorry... Had to re-do a Moto 3 seat unit and then make airboxes and scoops ect... Seems the guy was so happy with what he got he dumped a load more work on me and not a lot of time to get it all done...

I also had to get this finished off too.....

So finally got a good set of Carbon kevlar ones finished... So PM me and I can get them sorted out for you... Carbon ones will be done for the end of the week too....

Re: Carbon question.......
I am doing them... I need to make a proper mould as Levo keeps getting me to make them from the initial mould which was never meant to make more than one test set (Levo has fitted them) and then the Plug for me to make the actual mould.. I am still pulling parts from the initial mould so I will make a proper mould very very soon! That mould will be suitable for Pre-preg parts too... I have tested a pre-preg material that only adds about 15 to 20% to the cost of making the parts. Usually it doubles or triples the cost..EMC212 wrote:Are you still making frame covers for the 3TJ? and can you turn your hand to tank protectors too?

But it does double the time to make them... So they would be more expensive but not as expensive as most pre-preg parts are... here is a photo of the test part..

I have never had to make tank protectors for a bike from scratch so it would be a new one... So I will have to say that I would rather find one already made and copy it or get a local company to do one... One option is having someone make up a thick 2mm vinyl tank pad on the tank and lay up a splash mould over it then I would make them easily....

Re: Carbon question.......
I know how that feels.... One of the material suppliers for my Pre-preg has increased their minimum quantity order to 50sq meters.. Ok may not sound a lot but the last 25 sq/m order lasted me 12 months and it has a freezer life of.... 12 months! So after that you cannot be sure it will work correctly and even at 9 months it does feel different to use and the results are not quite as good so it should be binned.. But at £60 per sq/m I only use it for the surface layer or a simple part would be double the cost over a normal pre-preg part! So if I only used 25sq/m the other 25 would be binned at a cost of £1500 in the bin. Just to give you an idea the Aprilia kits with the seat and tank as well as fairing use 15 sq/m per kit just in carbon then consumables ect it gets very expensive very quickly... ruin one kit and that is almost £1000 binned and 2 weeks of time lost too...Kurlon wrote:My checkbook just ran for cover.
