I recently acquired some Chinese fairings, and I have to admit I thought I was gonna hate them, I knew as soon as I clicked buy now I was gonna regret it. However, They fit great, not OEM great, but I have had to do bugger all pissing about, compared to what I thought I was going to have to. Especially after some of the horror stories.

Sure there is some swarf and I had to drill holes for dsuz fasteners rivets, and the paint isnt showroom quality, The plastic is a bit thin, the inside is not nice black. But for just a gnats whisker over 300 all in, inc tax, I'm surprised, pleasantly surprised.
Just dont get too close.... oh the rear section doesnt fit too well. The H piece is a joke, but some dremel action and she is good to go.

Its all about expectations, I expected them to be ill-fitting, etc, etc, all the things that people have mentioned. And they werent that bad. I call them the Roy Walker fairings, they're good but they're not right. You are never gonna get OEM fit and quality for this price, so dont kid yourself you will.

When I chuck it down the road, I wont be crying cos I just trashed over a grands worth of plastic. As you say LosVFR, if your missus drops it, think of the $$ you have saved. I think if you set your expectations reasonably you wont be disappointed.

My daughter also bit the bullet and bought a set from " needmoremoto" who offer a set similar to her original scheme but in yellow. So I asked if they could match hers and got their e-mail address so I could send photo's of what we wanted. I also asked if they would send photo's back when they had been done.

After a bit of a wait with no word I asked for an update and was told they had been sent. I was a little concerned as they hadn't done as I had asked with the photo's, but when they arrived a couple of days later we were pleasantly surprised at the quality.

This is the bike with them fitted:











As you can see, from a little distance she looks pretty good.

As with others there was a few issues.
All the holes that took the stepped bolts needed enlarging, but because the plastic is thinner than OEM, especially the fixing lugs, I got some rubber tap washers, opened up the holes in them and fitted them thus:





The tail 'H' piece is a poor molding but a bit of work with a file got it passable and it doesn't have the turrets for the screws to keep the light unit in place, so I made some by Araldite-ing some smaller rubber tap washers too it and used self tappers. (a bit Heath Robinson, but it works)





They molded the lower sides without drilling out the rivets that fix the dzus brackets so these have to drilled and the fixings pop riveted on, also needing a bit of a fileing to make them sit flush.
The riders seat fixing holes aren't quite right and it sits a bit proud on the off-side. I may be able to fettle this.



The front radiator cover doesn't fit very well but can't be noticed except under close inspection, so it will do. I'm not sure however, if it allows enough air through, as on a shortish ride today, (air temp about 10 degrees c) the fan was on when I got back. Will look at this closer, and see if I can somehow cut it and fit the mesh cover.
The front of this panel where it fastens to the nose cone wouldn't take the plastic fasteners (no great loss, as I thought they were crap anyway) so I used some plastic number-plate nuts & bolts instead.



The front mud guard came in black instead of red, but we think it looks ok, but needed the captive nuts pop riveted on.

The 'free' screen is a bit opaque, but was improve a bit with a little polishing.



All in all, we are pleased with the overall effect, although at times I got frustrated with some of the detailing as I am not the greatest mechanic/engineer.

Well I got some Chinese ones since I crashed mine and destroyed the whole right hand side.

I was sent a picture before they shipped them, and from the picture they looked great, identical to the scheme I wanted. Upon receipt though, it went downhill. The paint quality is average at best, I can see lots of flaws in the paint from even a metre away (but I'm fussy and can pick that stuff out easily). I'm not too worried about that, people won't see it unless they give it a close inspection. Second problem was the nose cone. 3 screen bolt holes in the nose cone do not line up, and not even close, they are about 10mm off, which is easy enough, I can drill the screen to fit. One of the headlight mounts is also 5mm off which is not much of an issue.

Onto the mid section. The V section looks ok but I haven't tried fitting them yet. The lower sections are again average, one of the major mounts, the upper one that is hidden, is completely missing. There isn't even any plastic for me to drill through in order to utilise that mount, so that's a bit disappointing. The bottom mount is off by a good 10mm. The join for the V piece and lower piece is very rough. So my side fairings are currently only held on by the lower mount and the upper rear mount, which I don't think will work well at speed.

The tail piece looks ok, it's one piece, so it doesn't come apart which I think will make fitment a shit fight. The tail light can only mount using the single upper mount. The two side ones are so far out of position I'm not even going to bother, they can not be utilised and I can't drill through the fairing to mount. Other than that it's ok.

So in conclusion, I am very disappointed. For $480 it is possibly reasonably, but i'm still unhappy. And I haven't even fitted them yet, I will have to post up pictures once I get them all on, if I get them all on.

Most (all?) of the chinese kits I've seen haven't used a single tail piece, I imagine yours is a different maker to the majority of chinese kits in this thread.

I'd be opening up a claim with ebay if it's faulty/different to what's described.

Nah most RVF kits are one piece tail units. I just had a quick look on eBay and there were no two piece ones. I didn't buy it from eBay though, bought from a guy in Australia, so I assume there's a business number for him, so if it doesn't fit, I won't have any trouble get a refund or replacement.
