right heres where my head is at.

i cant afford a lot on a road bike due to the racing commitments. main thing that interests me with this vfr is the price, £300, taxed and MOT'd and a new set of bt090 tyres.

engine runs, but whole bike is untidy in places. fairings been painted in a horrible colour, fork seals need doing, carbs will need cleaning as well as the airbox coolant hose has split and the system doesnt hold any fluid, previous owner complained of over heating. will over heating have caused any lasting damage to engine? valve clearances will need to be checked? are the carbs and valves such as pain in teh arse to do. had the tank off the bike today and didnt look too bad under there?

rear shock feels very pogo sticky.

how is the seat meant to be fastened on? currently all i can figure out is that the front of teh seat slides under the subframe under the tank but cant figured out whats going on with the rear. looks like a penny washer has been used to clamp the seat around the seat unit?

how much am a i looking at a decent replacement shock, single seat seat unit, and aftermarket end can?

will try and get some pictures of the bike in question later on

To be honest, that doesn't sound too bad really!
As long as it hasn't been ran for too long with no fluids/ overheating, it should be ok. I'd check the condition of the lower rad, you'll probably find it's all blocked up. Giev that a goos clean or if you can replace it. Rick O on here does a lovely one! (Just fitted one myself!)
Shock - second hand good condition £100 (probably be a reworked RS250 number or rebuilt standard) Or could be £300+ for Nitron etc
Single seat unit - I'm sure someone on hear could sort you one out for a good price. About 40-50 depending on condition.
Can - You could spend anything really, I'd say 60-200, but that really depends what you're trying to achieve.

Get those pics up.
