Hagon shock, picked it up cheap. Theres another member on here who has a CBR600RR 04 shock in his, but I don't think he's had chance to try it out yet.

I have created myself another problem though, the rear headers are blowing, I want to nip them up to see if that sorts it out, is there anyway of doing this without taking the engine back out?
I have 3/8 drive small socket welded to a piece of long thin bendy bar that I use for this purpose

You can probably get in there with a small spanner if your patient

Ill have to give it a go, dont fancy taking the engine back out again!

How long should the starter motor spin for? Mine seams to crank the engine about 4 or 5 times then just spins?

It should spin until you burn it out or flatten the battery.

If its spinning sounds like one of the teeth may be broken on either the starter motor or the starter gear.

Not good.

It just keeps coming back and smacking me in the face!

Oh well iv got a spare starter motor so just an extra job on the list.

Anyone chanced one before? Is it a bad job (does oil need draining etc)?

it is easy enough but a bit of a ballache.

I stripped the teethoff one on my NC30...it was messy. flakes of hardened steel in my oil...JOY

oil change needed anyways because of that..!!

You need to check it out and you will need the side case off the engine - tilt the bike over to stop oil coming out but if you find any damage to the teeth then I would drop the oil anyways just in case.

good luck :geek:

Well iv just checked it out and the starter is fine, was going to take the side case off but iv encountered a much bigger problem, white oil!!! Iv been struggling to get the thing started and i think i know why now, looks like one of the head gaskets has gone and iv got water in the oil.

Just about feed up with this bike now

I woudl be temptep to investigate other alternatives to a HG issue, not the most amazingly common fault on these machines. Not knowing the history of the bike its difficult to diagnose, but do look elsewhere before you condem it!

As for your starter issue, rather than ground or missing teeth, you may find your stater clutch is slipping. All it is, is three small "cylinders" of metal (10mm wide and about 5mm in diameter) pushed against a metal housing via some small springs. If one of these springs is slack or one of the bearings is stuck, your starter wont engage properly and will spin, still involves taking the engine side off though....

Got to be worth a good hard look.

What would make the oil a foaming white sort of colour?
And its very hard to start, well i had it running on saturday, took it for a quick spin (about 2 miles) and then parked it up in the garage. I did have to top up the coolant, but i put this down to the fact that the engine had just gone back in and there must have been some air trapped in the system.

As for history, i bought the bike about 8 months ago from a bloke that had bought it about 2 years ago. He said it was running before he bought it but he wanted to give it a really good clean and sort out. There had been no oil or coolant in the bike for the past 2 and half years.

Before i ran it i put a new oil filter, oil, air filter and plugs on it.
