Cheers for the info Sharpey. Could come in useful down the line. I've got the 5JJ model from 2000, so no injection.

I'll have a look at that as an option if it goes again. Hopefully I should be good for a while, as I ended up with both a new bush on the valve and a new servo. The teeth on the servo had sheared off due to the effort required to try to move the exup. Wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't happened in Andorra! Had to ride all the way through the Pyrenees and France with the engine delivering what felt like about 80 bhp.

I thought if you took out the EXUP on an R1 you leave the servo in place otherwise it registers a fault code using the rev counter

That's true, but if the exup and servo valve both go again it may be worth my while trying to bypass the whole system.

Yes - what I mean is use a race exhaust or exhaust pipe section .... or scaffolding pole ... but leave the servo in place and connected. That way the CDI registers the servo and doesn't give a fault code.

Otherwise you could need a molesterd or race CDI

Yep, thats what folks normally do with it.

Just wondering if in future Sharpey's GSXR solution may work on the R1. Something to look into.
