Nope, the CDI is a sealed unit. I have known people get other CDIs apart to repair them but you need to know what you're doing.TBH, I'm not sure how many riders stick to the 33BHP rule, my son never bothered on his CB-1 and if he was pulled, he would have just claimed ignorance and say that the previous owner had told him it was 33bhp. It's a bit of a "Mickey Mouse" law if you ask me and fairly hard for the police to enforce. Personaly, I would have thought a 33bhp restriction more dangerous than the normal bike, esp on motorways and fast roads.

If ANYONE has any restrictor washers lying about could you sell them to me? Otherwise i just wont bother and blame it on 'ignorance' if they ask.

The 33 BHP rule is very odd as it is just 4 cheapo washers that sit in the carbs. What costs the money is the fitting and the certificate that comes with the 33 BHP kits. The certificate proves that the washers are true and have been fitted properly and the bike is a definite 33BHP, and this is what you would need to show to the police/insurance companies if you are stopped/in an accident. However, my girlfriend had the washers fitted, was never stopped and never asked for the certificate, and when the washers were removed we thought probably a waste of time... but, I did wonder, if you didn't bother fitting the washers or made the washers yourself, would the police actually waste their resources putting your bike on a dyno or is there an offence of not having the bike certified at 33BHP. I also assume that if you make them yourself or don't have the certificate your insurance is invalid????

The certificate and washers are not a legal requirement and therefore do not invalidate your insurance if you don't have them. It will in theory be invalidated if the bike produces more than 33bhp however but nowhere does it say how the 33bhp should be achieved.

you can get certificates made from somebody on ebay but would these count? if you didnt restrict the bike and you had the certificate the police would check and say yeh its fine, carry on!

Theres a template/copy on BCF somewhere which looks identicle to FI's certificate.
