Fully clockwise is max damping, what effect does that have.

forget the bmw shock, being an N model it should have the remote gas resevoir on it.

You can get these rebuilt to be like new for aroudn 100 quid and will be ideally well matched to your bike.. the later model shock is a decent shock when rebuilt especially considering the price.

Unless you spend the money getting either a shock built and setup for the nc30 or respring / revalvig a shock off another bike then you will most likely end up with something that "feels good" intially but wont perform like its supposed to under stress, you will most likely find this out when pushign the bike hard and the shock throws a wobbly and you loose the rear end.

If all your doing is pottering around the roads and never pushing the bike any shock will probbaly work to some extent but i still think for the money rebuilding the later shock is one of the chepeast, easiest to set up and most workable shock for general use.

The later shocks have a few adjustemsnts i think your getting them mixed up.

It sounds like you have a few issues.

You need to setup the spring preload first, this will set the sag of the bike based on the wegith of the bike and your own weight, then you can fiddle with the other adjustments that adjust how fast it responds.

Ye had a look at a few, at least £100 then depends whether there's any damage.
I may just pay £260 odd for a YSS.
Anyone got YSS shock and can let me know what they are like?
Best place to purchase?

I've not got a YSS one but have heard that they're quite good for the money, also try Hagon.
