Spike
Its not that bad a price considering that MHP sell a system that everybody swears by that is the same as what you have posted but at twice the price.
I would try to check what the quality of the carbon is like and the finish on the cans as this can vary a great deal with some being very bad and some being very good. I would also look at the strap as it looks a little thin and flimsy to me
You will get a little better performance from the twin stack but only if you get it re-jetted properly if you want a big difference go for a full system (TYGA) with the new CDI box from rick with the HRC set up.

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
I've just sold that new twin stack set up less the recon. front RVF headers for £350.
What makes it difficult is finding a good set of used RVF rear pipes cheaply - we then replace the lower joints with SS sleeves prior to sale - add the VAT and you can see where the £450 comes from.
I have plenty of these twin stack cans in stock with individual straps @ £110 each plus the new link pipes pairs @ £110 as well - add in a new bought in MHP high level can hanger @ £50 and it becomes expensive. (VAT inclusive BTW)
Link pipe tooling is not a cheap process.
It certainly is becoming cheaper again to bring in systems / cans etc from Asia .... I will be getting back onto the suppliers in Taiwan.

I got the moriwaki system because it lets me run the rear foot pegs, got a young lady who likes to go out on the back from time to time. Those cans that you got for 80 quid, were the sleeves carbon or stainless?

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
that makes no sense..honda ran both the twin stack and a single can dependent on the power characteristics they wanted, a single can system will better mid range power and a twin stack/shotgun gives better top end....this was displayed perfectly when Fontyyy and I both owned RVFs he had a JHA full twin underseat system and myself a Ethos single can system, his made more power mine made it better lower down and held onto it at the top for longer.matty_boy wrote:I would not say that is true my man because the normal system runs 4 into 1. But if you run a twin stack you can run 2 into 1 so the exhaust will flow better. Plus you can jet specific for top and bottom exhausts.and they will add very little performance to the bike...no more than fitting a race can anyway.
.
Fitting a system that doesnt remove the restrictive part of the Honda system IE the nasty twisted hunk of steel bolted to the rear cylinders is a bit pointless when you are thinking of spending £350....if you shop around you can get a 1/2 system for that and a 1/2 system removes the restrictive part I was refering to.
Then again if you want to spend £350 to make your bike perform about the same give or take 1/2 a BHP as a standard system with a single end can then be my guest.

thats quite interesting actually (power styles) cheers tanuki, although i was talking to graeme france (i think it was) a while ago and he said the honda rear section is actually remarkable well designed and some exhaust systems he has tried (aparently the old tyge one) were actually worse and created alot of flat spots
dont lynch me for that anyone its just what i remember him (may have been another 400 guru) saying, when i talked about exhausts with him

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
There are a lot of informative articles in various palces that concern themselves with the beneifts of 4-2-1 and 4-2 and 4-1 etx exhaust styles.
As Tanuki says - for the extra 1 bhp that you get right up top then a twin pipe is the way to go. A well designed 4-2-1 could give you the slightly fatter midrange that a road rider would prefer to have.
Personally I want a 4-2 as I am going to fine tune the no9 to make use of it. The issue of crash damage does not seem to put off the racers that use twin pipes and so...let's follwo the herd as there must be somrting in it!
FWIW - the best system I had for seat of the pants power was the mild steel "hrc" setup that was too loud for trackdays and so was sold before my ring trip. That system was heavy, looked ugly and had a small diameter can on it - it sucked the bike along bigtime and if I could get my hands on it again I would have it for my racing!

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
The old Tyga system was notoriously bad....which is why they manufactured a new one....The tyga system did not use this Honda part though.Spike16 wrote:thats quite interesting actually (power styles) cheers tanuki, although i was talking to graeme france (i think it was) a while ago and he said the honda rear section is actually remarkable well designed and some exhaust systems he has tried (aparently the old tyge one) were actually worse and created alot of flat spots
TBF though if the Honda rear section was any good why does every system and half system remove this from the equasion, the fact that you can get a 1/2 system goes to show exactly what part it is that needs to be replaced.

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
The MHP twin stack cans use the complete stock exhaust system up until the 2-1 section under the side stand and correct me if im wrong but did it not come out on top of ALL the other exhaust systems tested in the G-Force exhaust test ?tanuki wrote:TBF though if the Honda rear section was any good why does every system and half system remove this from the equasion, the fact that you can get a 1/2 system goes to show exactly what part it is that needs to be replaced.

Re: i think iv found cheep twin shotgun exhaust system
I have no idea about any exhaust tests..I am assuming it was comprehensive in what it tested...HRC, Ethos, JHA, Yamamoto, Moriwaki, Tyga etc etc, and I am also assuming each system had enough dyno time to suit the jetting to each system and that the same bike was used as a constant??
IMHO a system is a system from both cylinder heads to end can/cans, a 1/2 system utilises the standard front pipes and replaces the rear section to the cylinder head, anything else is just link pipes and end can/cans.
If MHP have designed a set of link pipes that creates more power than a full system then kudos the those guys as thats some feat.

Oh yes.. not sorted, but deffo fitted and now needs my carbs putting back together.
Thanks to Royster for being a proper Gentleman of the Old SKool - cheers homie.
Better pics when the sun is out but they need a tweak - the stand does not retract and they fab'd a bracket to stop it twatting the pipes....I showed them the grinding marks on the stand and I reckon I would grind the pipes at that angle..lol
Oh well - am happy with it and will report how it goes as soon as I can. This for cheap too - relatively.
