that's spot on cheers for the link, if a guy I know has time were going to remove the cylinder head and clean and also look at grinding the valves in and replacing the valve stem oil seals. However that is beyond my knowledge so a reverse chaser like that in the link would be a good if he's not available but until you sent me the link I couldn't find a 10mm one so i'm a happy chappy now.

if anyone knows where I can get the stem seals for a Genesis 87 that would be great (apart from M&P on ebay)

You'll need a head, base gaskets and probably some shims too. It's not cheap

Right so someone please answer me this, used the reverse cross threader, threaded through nicely, cleaned everything up and tried the spark, no joy, tried reverse again twice more, still no joy.

So gave up on that and got the rethreader top way out was very notchy going in (lots of swarth) did this 4 times cleaned each time and the threader went in a dream very smooth no notches.

tried the spark and again got stuck on the 7th turn, threw that one across the garage (I know) and got another new one out but that one also got stuck, tried a little persuasion but still no joy.

anyone got any ideas, I really dont want to take the head off and have to spend £100 on new gaskets & extra on helicoils.

Are you using CRE8 ngk plugs ?

Why not take a plug out of a different cylinder, you know that plug is good and has been fitted before
if no joy you have to assume a problem with the tread in the cylinder head.

All sorted, it took a lot of patience and several passes with the rethreader but all is now good and four plugs are in place, all the wholes have been blown out with a air line so hopefully there wont be too many fragments in there lol. Now to start rebuilding and waiting for all the other bits to come in.

I will be posting this in another thread but does anyone know of any decent fairing companies don't really want to go north of £250ish but would like to get some new fairing on.

Cheers guys.

ps that reverse threader was the dogs.
