mrpaintdude wrote:If you have no click, have you tried the starter relay (right side, in front of coolant res)? Unplug wire connection revealing 30amp fuse, if that's ok then possibly knackered relay. Got similar probs, but my relay is clicking, so think my starter motor's gone. Correct me if I'm wrong people, just following Haynes manual.

A clicking solenoid is a flat battery, not the starter motor.

Had a tinker with the electrics today. Solenoid is ok. Checked for power coming through the blue/white wire from the start button. Ok. Bridged the clutch and side stand switch. Ok. Took off the main relay and bridged the two blue/white wires at the multiplug. This turns the starter motor on the button, so suspected the relay itself. Got in touch with a local guy who had a relay for sale p/n 3EN-81950-00. Went to pick it up and tried it. Noooooooooo. Just the same.
I'm hoping its another duff unit. I may be able to borrow one from another guy I know.
The only thing that I don't understand is, what makes the exup valve set and the fuel pump prime as nothing still happens, just neutral light and oil light when start button is pressed. Lights ok, indicators/horn ok
Could it be digital ignition box or does power pass through this after the relay
Give me a tin of paint and some spanners and I'm fine. Wiring, oh dear !!!!!!!!

Now this might sound stupid, but it happened to me.

Are you sure you have the right plug in the right socket.

I think it is the Sidestand and Fuel Pump which has the same plug unit.

The fuel pump prime and the exup cycle at ignition on situation is controlled by the TCI unit initially.

Does the rear brake switch operate the brake light.( I think that is the plug that to which Wraith is referring rather than the sidestand plug as the correct orientation is a mismatch of wire colours on the brake circuit)

Can you post pics of your loom at the TCI ?

Here is the horrible wiring diagram.;

The pic does not copy/post well into forum editors and is poor enough to start with !

You're right it was the Back Brake

It was quite a number of years ago

Can't view Link Pic

Comes up as Private

Could not make out the writing for Wire Colour etc

But this might be of some help

I find it easier to trace wires when pic is Invese
