I think I was actually looking at your project thread the other day.....the NC looks bloody awesome mate!

Cheers for the helpful information!

Yeah... right now it has a massive hole in the side of the engine and a couple of valves lodged in one of the inlet ports. Not ideal!

So no2 is already in progress!

Hey Guys,
I spent most this year counting the cost & collecting NC30 stuff.
Hope to get out next season if fit and well.
Just got a spare engine but is missing the genny cover and flywheel.
Been reading these threads/forums about gsxr mod.
Can any one say what this gives in terms of bhp..?
Also anyone know where I can get a modified cover from.?
And of course cost..!?
SteF...

Ps:good luck with the build(cal). :)

You don't gain any real power, but it makes the engine rev up much faster as the crank doesn't have the flywheel bolted to the end of it. The gsxr genny is is much lighter compared to the standard one, so you get the benefit of a charging system and quicker pick up due to less centripetal forces.
The cover is from Rick Oliver (his price list is in the v4 general section) around £200 and the genny and flywheel from a k7 gixer is around £150+ so you would need to budget around £400 as you need gasket and oil etc.

If the bike is just for short circuit racing or tack days, just run it with no genny (total loss) and charge the battery between races or sessions. If u plan to use it for more than say 60 miles in one blast before recharging then you need a genny.
Hope that helps.
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!
