ok guys,

just another quick question. It looks like there are two options of each model of quickshifters. Compression operated, and tension operated.

Might be a stupid question, but I am running standard shift (1 down, five up). Would this be tension operated?? Seems logical "compression" being pushing the lever downwards??

No mate its the other way round, dont think of the lever pulling or pushing its what the rod is doing!!

So in standard road set up, shifting up from 1st up through to top gear your compressing the shift rod...

Got limited movement in my left foot due to a few screws and plates from a big off at start of season...

from what i know, the shifter only really works from 2nd gear upwards, as u don't need to 'quickshift' from neutral to 1st plus there won't be any engine speed.

Thats right it will only work when being compressed!! (if its a compression shift that is)..

Not sure of the make but you can also get one that you can adjust how sensitive it is..

its not compression its run off a strain gauge, the HM ones are run like this, you can also set the sensitivity and the time lapse between changes

glad this thread has brought some info on the subject. Biff, Si and Aly (ABR) have all helped with my queries.

If my cash stores allowed, the HM one looked like a spot on bit of kit. But I'm wondering whether I will be able to put the money together to afford it (circa £350 - £400). I have seen a Techtronics one (QS2) which is in my budget i'm gonna mull over it a bit.

If it doesn't work out. I may well have to put in for some overtime, and then see how Si gets on with his once its all hooked up!
