Good plan with the seals and good news on the carbs. But I've got to ask why was the gearbox stripped and those forks replaced, and who did the work?

F3 kit brought it to 65PS per the manual I have, still not bad for how old it is

I used to have an MC21. Awesome little bikes the NSRs. Check the crank seals and bearings. Mine ate a crank after a few hundred miles of ownership. Not cheap to rebuild or replace.

The gearbox was done as it was struggling to select 3rd gear, when it was stripped down one of the selector fork tips where worn so 3 where replaced for peace of mind I think.

Oh I didn't realise it was only 65, can't remember for the life of me where I got 72 from.

Yea it looks like a £1500 job to rebuild the entire engine. I know I'll have to do it sooner or later but I'm hoping I can get a few miles out of it before that day comes. Crank seals are NLA but I have seen them pop up on yahoo japan.

You should join the NSR forum. Lots of info on there.

It is a weird forum though. Probably one of the most draconian I've been on.

I've been signed up to NSR world for quite a while it's a brilliant source of info but it seems like people get the hump over little things on there so I've avoided posting anything.

Really? so being the same basic motor as the 18,21 and 28 does that mean there NLA too?

It’s not that bad an estimate. I rebuilt the bottom end of my MC21 and the crank I managed to buy new for a good price, which was £600. Even a rebuild of the crank will be around £500 by the time you have paid for bearing etc. New piston and rings, will set you back a fair chunk. Ancillary items will drive that up around the £1500 mark if you pay labour too.

To my knowledge the crank seals are still available. The bearings are getting hard to find now, but there is a guy in Holland I believe that can source the same parts from the manufacturer.
