Yes, of course.
Can't find a tiny jet....there is the main jet, which screws into a tube, and next to it is the jet that I thought was the pilot jet. But its quite big. Can't see any thing else in there

Is not that the pilot; It only has a #30 size which is tiny.The physical(outer) size may be larger !

Addition; I thought there was a jet down a tunnel but looking at a pic.(go to the linked site and click at the

OK...problem fixed. The offending pilot jet was, in fact, so badly blocked that I mistakenly thought it did its magic deep inside the carb body. Didn't realise it had an opening into the float bowl. Took some serious cleaning.

If you work on the rough translation of operation;

Air has to be admitted in a metered flow from the bellmouth (Pilot air jet)
Fuel has to be added by venture effect from the float bowl (Pilot fuel jet)
The mixture has to be adjustable ( Pilot air screw)
All passageways must be unobstructed.
