Where are you located? If you're anywhere local to Mike Norman you could be up for a bit of a challenge (Mike's goal is 100 hp from a big bore...): http://mngforce.typepad.com/vfr1989 wrote:Im not lookin for crazy horse power i just want the fastest vfr locally.

I think there were only two sets made of the 57mm pistons for my motor. They were done by Omega and require +3 Carrillo connecting rods.vfr1989 wrote:Thanks for the info guys. The newer JE's might not be bad,, but they look like they're kind of heavy to me. The less reciprocating weight, the better. The Omegas weigh 81.5 grams a piece.
Mike Norman now gets his from a Japanese manufacturer,, I think the same one that supplies Kawasaki's OEM pistons. They're a similar design to the Omegas.
It's a lot to do. Boring, custom head gaskets, Cryo and REM treatment. The after the engine is built, you need to do the carbs then tune it on a dyno. By the time you get done, you could of picked up two, three, maybe four other NC30's in the UK. But if your going to do it, you might as well get it done right.

Re: new vfr project
May i ask why u want to have the most powerful vfr?
At the end of the day max speed limit is 70mph
My nc35 can hit 70 real fast
Maybe not as fast as my old 600rr-5 but if u want a faster 0-30 go for a 600
The 400's are a dying breed
You will get more satisfaction from getting a beaten up 400 nc23/29/30 /35 and restoring than making it the fastest surely
Just fit a new exhaust, change the jets, give it a full service and your done

Re: new vfr project
If all you want is a fast 400 why not go down a tooth on the front sprocket, up 5 teeth on the rear sprocket (14-45 combo), fit a nice system and jet it to suit.
What you'll end up with is a very fast accelerating bike which will lack top end but the key to this elusion is to keep to twisty roads where your mid range and pick up will embarrass unknowing riders

It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
