Been offered nc30 project, advice needed

Carbs and registration plate come with bike and I have history checked registration and it is clear. £300 is the kind of figure I was thinking.

It is hard to judge the value of bikes like this. Currently there is one on ebay with no fairing or battery which has reached £400 with 5 days to go.

yes but thats an auction and your often finding chump bidding against chump.

New tyres, chain sprockets and fluid change / plugs and filter is gonna set you back around 500 quid and thats before you fix anything else that probably needs doing like fork seals, brake calipers and all the other crap that needs doing from standing.

If you enjoy spending time and doing the restore work then its not a problem, but cheap bikes often work out just as if not more expensive in the long run.

The last rough VFR I bought cost roughtly 850 doign the above and genny / reg rec fork seals and repairing various bodges, 2nd hand rear shock etc.

Plus chinese panels will make it worth less than OE panels if you come to sell it on.

If its what you want to do then sure but often these bikes stay as projects as people dont realise the cost involved, and unless you spend time to do a bike like this up properly (at least mechanically) its going to ride like a dog.

With working brakes and suspension and good tyres they handle really nice but with crap tyres and buggard suspension they really do feel their age...

Offer to take it for free to save them the cost of disposal.
Hpi clear just means it doesn't owe anything to a finance company, it could still be stolen.
If you pay for it offer very low money and be prepared to find out it's history when you try to register it.

Sadly a bike like that is worth more in bits. The cost of restoring a bike is higher than you think and always takes longer than you expect.

If your in a position to have time on your hands, and no family/work commitments restoring things or project bikes is very rewarding but usually it's better to buy a nice runner and ride
