Please advise.
You can fit 160s to the 4.5 rim but some 160s sit happier on a larger rim (although ive never had issues using stock 30/35 rim)

main advantage is greater choice of tyres

But surely a 180 is bigger than what is needed i get the 17" rim part of the mod - is it for cosmetic reasons - what would the gains be against 150 or 160 super corsa tyres on an standard 17" RVF rim.

Thanks in advance.

Better choice of lighter wheels I imagine.

Racing bikes as the ones honda used in the 250 worldchampionship run 5,5 rims with 165 tyres and if i well remember they touched asphalt with their elbows even if measures didn't matched perfectly...

sorry guys I've been away in USA and kind of forgot about the messages.

Yws wheels run in line, but its not a straight forward job, for me I wanted the wheel to bolt to the axle with no spacer so you need to move the swingarm to the left, machine the suspension linkage mounting point to keep linkage central, move axle to the right, move dic to the right to align caliper, modify exhaust to clear swingarm on left side.

I used an 848 ducati rear wheel 5.5" with a 180 tyre, clears perfect and is dead central, yes it slows the steering a bit but I did mine as a project, I have many bikes to ride so not fussed about the slow steering, lets face it its no Desmosedici lol

easy stuff if you put your mind to it.

Currently making an RCV213 replica with inverted swingarm and will have Dani's 2014 bodykit fitted
