Hi Rick. Mine's an RC30 stand, and I purchased a new nylon collar and caution label several years ago, but haven't re-conditioned it yet. How is the locking collar supposed to work, anyway? I suppose it will become obvious once I get it apart!

Compared with other SSSA stands, though, the bit that slides into the axle doesn't seem as long as most others, so if the locking collar doesn't engage, the bike can more easily end up on the floor. :(

Ciao,

I don't really know how the locking mech works , I will grab some pictures of it .

Can't say I have any worries about it falling off , used it when I did a track day recently andnkept the bike up well in the van , plus its a lot shorter than my other stands which helps when trying to get 3 bikes in a van

The RC30 stand has a nylon eccentric that grips inside the hub.

Engage the stand spindle into the hub and hold the end bolt whilst tightening the large plastic nut next to it.
Don't hold the nut and turn the bolt as the nylon will then turn and wear against the hub.

If the nylon part is worn, a layer of tape will tighten it up in the hub.

so is this a RC30 stand then?

Its rubbish and I don't use it, much prefer a stand that I acquired when I bought a job lot of NC30 spares.

If so do I fully refurb it or sell it as is in its slightly beat up state.

Don't know, it looks the same, yet an extra [yellow] spacer fitted.
Found they work well if locked up, but Abba or this one better for heavy/serious work, I would not run the engine in gear or not with the Honda stand.

Paint it [£30?] and try e bay if you don't want it.

What is the problem with your rubbish stand exactly?

Its just a bit hard work to use, its pretty short as in when it is in the back axle, but the bike is still on the deck it is gard work to lift the bike up onto the stand, the best way I have found to do it is the stand behind the bike holding it upright with a hand on each side of the seat unit/subframe. Then stand on the back of the stand with both feet to get it up onto the stand.

This does not sound to difficult I grant you, but when your knackered after a track session or race its a pain, and I had a few wobbles between getting off and getting the bike onto the stand.

I also think it is ever so slightly twisted if it is on good flat ground it just and so rocks, get it on uneven ground and this can be massively exaggerated and the bike looks a little leant over.

My other stand also has wheels so I can leave it on the stand and move it around its longer so I can put it up on a lot easier.

Don't get me wrong it still works fine, its just there are better stands out there really, and if its worth decent money I'd rather it went to a proper RC30 home and it covered some of a race entry fee.

Sounds reasonable to me, I would buy it if I did not have 5 already.

Paint it and put it on e bay.

well I sent the above pics to the RC30 owners club and they have confirmed it is a RC30 stand, so I will be getting it painted and purchasing a £7 sticker for it then its up for sale!

Hopefully go someway towards a race entry.
