Having owned both bikes i really cant see the point buddy, yes it would be a one off but the RS lump puts out more power than the NC30. Why not try and get your hands on a HONDA RS250 lump and drop that in?
Or go for some thing totally different like a big single ?
Failing that just buy a NC30 you can get them for about a grand, which is loads less hassle than dropping the engine in. :D

What about an RGV250 engine or maybe even an Aprilia RS250 engine

There's an engine for sale on here:

I'm sure can pick up an old loom and carbs easy enough. Depends on location I suppose.

yeah there's a couple about, one was owned by a lad called rob at mito mondo (cagiva specialist)nath30 wrote:there was a mito on ebay not long back with a yammy xt600 engine in it i say go for the single in there and your on a winner
but from what I've read, big single thumper = vibration

so.. there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm about this project

Note: if my rs engine wasn't damaged as bad (last track day hiccup) I'd just rebuilt it
does any body think i should do it? let me know
any other engine suggestions welcome :D

i would make a moto 450 road bike if i was after a project like that
usd front end, dymag wheels, slipper clutch, different rear shock and get a tyga 250 gp style road fairing (the ones with the light that looks like a ram air intake, would be easy just need to say its a modified crosser

Don't get me wrong, I think I speak for most people here when I say we'll give you as much help as you want if you decide to go ahead but it's just not one I think's worth it. Both of the bikes are such good handlers as standard and it would be very easy to make something that's worse than either.
Have you considered an SV650 engine? 69 brake (and more scope for tuning, up to 130 if you want to take it to 800 and spend a lot of wedge) plus it's a V the same as the RS was. Or get one of the aprilia 450/550 V's and fit that.

Thats because it is pointless.markbrad100 wrote:most people seem to think its pointless and i don't understand why, a great engine in a great chassis
Myself among other things I'm putting a ZXR400 front end on my NC23 (project has stalled at the moment). I was chatting to a guy who has been around bikes longer than I've been on this planet about it; him having been a mechanic, racer, and dealer. He reasoned that it would be easier if I just went out and bought a SS600 and asked me why I wanted to do it, my reply, "why not". He just looked at me, smiled and bought me a pint.
It is a pointless project just like mine. But thats the point. And good luck to you sir.
