well im hearing mixed stories, some people claim that they have removed it with the hub on etc. :\ i could remove the hub, but thatl mean waiting a few days for my 46mm socket to arrive.

also, i think my rear caliper is knackered. the two pots barely move when i pressed the lever. and i tried to push them back in with a flat headed screwdriver.... well, they just wont go in. only goes in about 1-2mm and pushes out by 1-2mm when the leaver is pressed. the brake pads are like brand new, barely been worn down.

how can i go about overhauling these? or is it not wort the hassle, and just buy a working secondhand one?

To be honest you're better off money wise to re-furb your current one, however because you've mentioned hacking at your bike with an angle grinder I do not recommend you re-furb it yourself.

By the sounds of it the caliper needs the overhaul.

its not me who fucked up the caliper mate. i got the bike like this, i dont even use the rear brake, but now i need it fixed to pass its MOT. there is no other way of getting the nut off other than welding or using an angle grinder on the nut, carefully, and then to brake it off.

if you have any better ideas than that. then please do share your knowledge with me. Image

Do you not have a junior hacksaw?

Much more precise than a welder or angle grinder. Lessens the chance of something getting damaged by accident.
