I hate the vagueness you get from some MOT testers. However, apparently they can't manually enter a proper explanation, all they get is a list to choose from, so you need to ask exactly what it means if they don't say at the time.bikemonkey wrote:Fuck me that's a list.
You should go ask him what the structure thing was.
To me I read it as "forks/yokes/frame/bars are fucked/bent and will affect steering etc.
Throttle operating incorrectly? Are the revs increasing/decreasing with handlebar movement?
The rest should be simple things.
New rear brake disc, sort out the rear brake hose routing, new valve stem, general tightening things up.
Time to get the spanners out

I never have that problem at my local.
The bike tester there likes having you with him while he's going over the bike, so he can show you what he means if somethings up.
When I took my NC in though he loved it, didn't find out why until I went into the office and saw photos of an NC30 he spannered for a TT race in the 90's.

I did say some... :p I've never had an issue myself, maybe that's because I used to get my local bike mechanic to sort it out for me while I was working away for the week. That said, I no longer have that option, but I got it through this year with no advisories, so I must have done something right! lol

Dont take this the wrong way btu I doubt the MOT bloke is really an ejut is he. He may have put a few things down that he normally wouldnt fail a bike for but all combined there is just so much he has to put everything - I bet he thought it was some sort of DVLA MOT test for him. He would be able to fix the bike properly in a few hours aswell.............
You have been working on this bike for so long that it should be fine by now but everything you have touched seems to be mentioned in the mot failure.
I dont doubt you can spray wd40 here, bend a handlebar there and put a few cable ties in the relevant places, but seriously - save up and just pay someone to sort it. You cant be happy to drive about on it, your going to get hurt mate - or someone else will.
Working on the bike is all well and good if your handy with the right tools and have the experience to get it right, if not its downright dangerous.
Anyway , I know you will just ignore this so- your rear brake - it isnt the rust causing it to be useless, it will be the pistons sticking, so take it off and clean it. If it was working, there wouldnt be any rust on the disc after a few miles on the bike braking normally.
The structure sounds like your fairings arent secure.
The rest is obvious isnt it - retrace what youve touched.
To be fair though, he never spotted the fox piss, so all in all its not that bad.
Good luck, Hope you get it through the MOT bud.

Lol , either sort it properly or sell it .
You might temporarily fix a sticking throttle with wd40 but when it jams and you run a small child over you'll wishj you had done it properly .
Its not much moneys worth to sort that list out properly and you would have a properly working bike , one minute you say you have no money to do anything and then the next you want to make your own carbon parts .
Fix the bike and stop fucking around!

Not read it yet but I will..
But, my first thought...it was always going to fail and I am glad it did - get it sorted.

In relation to the throttle, you said before that you had the cables routed the wrong way and they were getting pinched by the forks/yokes. Did you change the routing? If so are you sure its the right routing?
Most of the failures listed are superficial and can be sorted easily if you just take your time and do it right.
The two i'd be concerned about is the throttle and brake failures
First off the guy has told you the rear brake line needs secured - so if all it needs is a cable tie then great, go do it. He has told you the rear disc is fucked (which you have also said) so replace it - don't make me upload pictures of what happens to Dickheads that use a bike with brakes that don't work properly.

dont worry guys, i am not going to fuck around. i will fix this, but it wont be anytime soon. i have so much stuff going on right now. like college, and i am in the middle of building an aluminum pc case/desk combo with a glass top.... so the money i get will be going there for the mean time.
the bike is on hold now. and will be stored in that shitty little garage i have at the back of my garden.

If thats the case, please invest in some fox repellant for the garage - will save you time & money in the long run.....xivlia wrote: the bike is on hold now. and will be stored in that shitty little garage i have at the back of my garden.

Re: Re: MOT failed, knew it.. but, any help?
So...... You took a bike that was overdue an mot but one that you have been continued riding & leave (then forget!) basic bike safety checks until the day that you booked in - did you actually check anything on the bike before you went???xivlia wrote:Okay so i failed MOT.... i knew it but i did not know there would be so many bad things....
okay.. soo number 009... "offside motorcycle structure insecure" what is that? he never told me. and also 008, "nearside motorcycle structure insecure..."
ignore the rest. it was all stupid mistakes i forgot to take care of this morning like securing the bloody tank
Going from your 1st comment, it sounds like you knew it would fail - if so why take it....
So, you have just replaced the rear brake line as the other wore through on the back wheel/tyrexivlia wrote:well the left bar is bent so maybe thats hitting something.. ive not noticed but they clearly have. the brake hose was done up, its not getting in the way hes just being a retard.... its because the shock line was pushing down against the brake line and he went mental at me for that. nothing a cable tie wont fit... the rear brake disc is pitted and rusty as fuck. it does hold. but not very well.. it doesnt need bleeding, there is absolutely 0 air in there, bled the system 2 days ago. he said the disc is the issue with the braking.
and il remove the tyre and change the valve stem.

But now the replacement is catching on something else. The worst thing is instead of admitting that YOU have fcuked up again, you have the audacity to call the mot guy a retard......
Beyond belief.
If it only wanted tie wraping out of the way, why didn't you do it..:...
I can't be bothered going through the other stuff, most of it is quite basic.
Seriously, do yoursel & everyone around you a favour.
Leave the bike off the road & get a bus pass until you find someone with the time & patience to show you & help to explain the basics of motorcycle maintenance. Unfortunately, we are talking basics.....
Sorry to sound harsh but thinking it is acceptable to take such a bike for an mot, well simply isn't.
As others have said, you are talking about making/selling carbon parts & buying stuff for the bike.
Get the basics sorted, I mean properly sorted.
Stop making excuses like "it only needed tightening, moving, adjusting" or whatever.
If it only needed xxx then why didn't you feckin' do it.
Over & out, Pip
