Were the ceramic insulator meets the metal its rolled over simply cut the metal were its rolled over with a saw or dremal and pull insulator out the metal bit. There not held in by much really.
If i can find me compression tester and me adapter i'll take a pic for you, but i got me KLR in hundreds of bits at the mo for engine rebuild so finding it could be a bit of a challenge!

Id advise putting an o-ring on the end that screws into the engine and hand tighten it only.

Otherwise your likely to get a poor seal and inconsistent readings
