Got hold of a multi meter, reg/rec fried and the alternator fried too! Tested the resistance on the alternator which was out side of tolerances , took it off and it was melted with broken windings!
Ordered one off fleebay so should be back on the road soon. Bloody bank holidays!

Well, all the electrics are running fine now ! Yay but was still having trouble withe the cold cylinder. It did improve after changing the 'O' ring but still not right.
After much head scratching (and throwing tools around the garage) i found one of the air ways by the bell mouths on the carb was blocked solid . No amount of compressed air was shifting it .
Eventually rigged up a tiny reservoir connected to the hole and filled it with full fat coke and left it over night.
Next day , bobs your uncle , clean as a whistle.
Pipe now bloody hot ( as testified by the shiny burnt skin on my fingers) .
Right , the suns out, off for a road test.
