No it was just that it made no difference. Got fairly decent roads round here and i use one as a benchmark, and no matter what i changed it just didnt want to know. Any bump it seems to react very violently, seems to have got worse over the winter.
quality wrote:Just had my nc30 done via MCT, highly recommended. Upgraded forks and new Wilbers rear shock as the original was beyond repair/rebuild. Set up for my weight, use etc and although not cheap, not bad either. Worth it? Hell yes!! The difference is amazing. Bike handles better than most new bikes and is bespoke to me, can't ask for more.

I just stripped the forks and shock out and posted them to MCT via Parcel monkey, cost less than a tenner, told them my details and riding etc then got them back fully done with set up sheet too and telephone advice if required for any other fine tuning.
Combined compression and rebound damping plus the usual preload. Entry level shock from wilbers but great quality. I have also used a Nitron Track shock with separate damping controls and that was brilliant but a bit more cash. Once set up right though any of the aftermarket shocks make a huge difference.
Paul.
What Wilbers shock did you go for the one with damping adjustment or none? Ones £100 cheaper which may sway me

Hi wallis, mines done similar miles and rides better than some new bikes. Rear wp shock is 7 years old according to mct, so you don't need totally brand new stuff, but serviced and spring set to your weight makes a huge difference. My service was over 300 but lots was done, and like yourself, plan to keep bike for many years so it was worth doing. Perhaps hunt 2nd ha nd shock and get setup and fitting done professionally? Fwiw, mine went briskly over a humpback bridge, straight into a corner and felt better than any other bike I have ridden yeserday, so the potential is there, just keep working on it.

Oh, forgot to say tat in my case, harder fork springs made the ride softer, because gthe originals were only working on part of their range. Harder springs work over the full range and so made the ride softer. No way I would have known that without a professional guiding me.
