Does it have a long first gear, and then close ratios after that? The SP's should have a close ratio box. Mine takes a little bit of getting going but then flies through the gears. I find myself trying to get an extra gear some times as it revs all the way to the redline

Hopefully, even if the engines been changed, they put the SP gearbox in

Laminator it seems to be very fast through the gears up to top in no time at all, then it feels like i need the extra gear otherwise it will be chattering along the redline for the rest of the straight and i dont want to do that!! Maybe the gear set up is very very low?? Bike would probably benefit from a derestricted CDI aswel but i don't think i would like to run the risk if it has a 1WG (not 3EN as stated before after checking the lower casing today!) bottom end?? would like the bike to be as spanner free as possibly idealy... Decisions decisions!!!

they are all pretty much marked 1wg, even 3tj's! so don't use that as a guide!

Funny you say that just did a research prior to post and found that all crank cases are stamped 1WG so... Just gone outside quikly to take the clutch cover off and it has 9 pressure and 8 friction plates so they must of just used a crank and conrods out of a 3EN when it was rebuilt which is good!! I'm now guessing this is why i'm running out of steam top end as the SP box is close ratio and limits 110mph... So whats going to be the safest way to get more top end??
Now where getting somewhere, sorry guys

!!!
Thanks

Thanks Taggy, what ratio would be a good balance between low and top end with the SP box for racing?? I will do some research in the process..
Thanks

Current set up ratio is 15/47

i'd try 14/45 but i'll see if i can find the link for a ration calculator i had, gives you an idea of the compromise between ratio and top end/acceleration.

It depends on what track you are at aswell for gear ratios. Darley moor will be different to Cadwell, etc.
Next time your at Darley or in the area let me know, I'd like to pop over and say hi. I'll even bring the 400 RSP along. Not for the track, but to ride over on. My folks live less than 1/2 mile away from Darley Moor, might even be able to blag coffee and a bacon butty out of them :)

Taggy that would be great if you could find the ratio calculator, what sort of top end would you see with 14/45 as Oulton park will be my next track day hopefully as it is alot closer to home, i would imagen you would need some good top end there?
Laminator i agree there, it would be nice to have a bit of a sprocket collection to suit the different tracks! Next time i will be at Darley will hopefully be a race as it's pretty far for a track day (1h 45m). When i get my race numbers sorted for the next Darley meeting i will let you know and you can come along and keep a eye out for my numbers, pop over for a chat, be great day out to

.
Cheers guys
