One pipe goes to the rad and I think the other to either the rad or the metal coolent pipe on the back of the block.
It's too bloody cold to go and have a look!
The SP rads are different so you might need one for the job.

You can mod your own rad as per the 600 conversion.
I always ran fully synth in my rrsp with no probs.
I have seen 2 bottom end failures where semi synth was used in a mates bike
