Little update.
Bike actuallt fired up today.....had to spray some easy start in the airbox to get it started though.
Cuts out when i blip the throttle though.....or sometimes won't rev past 4k revs.
I have'nt connected a hose that goes to the bottom of the airbox though, could this be the cause of my issues???

seeing as it runs. it will just be a matter of adjustment.
check the idle speed screw isn't holding the throttle open.
throttle cables not tight and holding throttle open.
check the choke cable is pulling fully on the choke.
try to avoid easy start if it fires wrong with easy start it has been know to do alot of damage.
How long can you keep it running for without touching the throttle?

Had a few ups n' downs with the bike lately.....Would just like to thank Stripes for all the advice he's given me.
Sending out stuff I needed for the carbs and other stuff..
Always at the end of the phone when you need him.....suprised really as he is so busy.
A genuinley nice bloke and standup fella to deal with.
As far as I'm concerned....he is 400greybike
I'm sure there are other well informed members on here....but to me Stripes and Variablevalves are the two guys that shine through......
For anyone new here, or does'nt know by now.....these two ARE the guru's for your GSXR400'S......cheers guys!!!

Haha, i had a Puch Maxi on the fields when i was a wee snot nose kid, remember swop in it for a GT185 with old school clippons and a flat rear tyre- it nearly killed me after we stuffed the tyre with grass and i hit a 6ft mess fence at about 60.
