The YB7 starting problem wasn't fixed. The next time I tried to start it she wouldn't fire.
I decided it was time to look at the carbs. I'd got all the parts I needed to do all the jobs I want to do, while the fairing is off. (Oil, filter, plugs, etc.) I removed all the fairings, swapped plugs and filter, and gave her some new oil. I adjusted the EXUP cables, while I could get to the valve. The carbs came off, stripped, cleaned, and replaced (also adjusted the choke cable so it actually works)
The exhaust rattle at tickover has now gone, and....... she's starting first push of the button without having to use the choke. Result!
Clothes off, jobs done, ready for the fairings.
Front wheel off, hanging from the forklilft.
Front fairing back on and wheel back in.
FZR400 - I made some new EXUP cables myself. Turned some end fittings, drilled, then tigged them onto some 19 strand 1.6mm stainless wire (using the old outers and adjusters). The EXUP valve was stiff so copper grease came out.
All back together. I also bought and fitted some new rear indicators as the RHS rear was cracked (I bought a pair because I don't like to see odd lights on the back)
There's always a ying to a yang / Dark side to the force / etc.
The FZR had different keys for the ignition and petrol cap. Coming back from Manchester I filled up in Leek. When I got home the petrol cap key had fallen off the keyring. I had to drill the lock so I can fill it up. Now looking for a matching lockset so I can use one key for all (which is something I wanted to do anyway)
