Ahh i see!! I've not taken one of these engines apart before and assumed wrong. (you know what they say about assuming)
So by the sounds of it i need the trigger from the earlier bandit then to match the cdi? not sure what came with the cdi now as its at home and i'm not! I'm fairly sure that part was included. i also got some gears and cogs?? Anyone shed any light on what these are for? I haven't started fiddling with it properly yet as i've been busy with other projects!!
Dont suppose anyone has a parts diagram for these engines??
Just to clarify the trigger is what the cable going into the nearside cover connects to and it plugs into the loom??

Should be an engine section in the manual hosted on banditalley. The cogs will be starter gears i imagine.

Checked the cdi package earlier and it does have the trigger so fingers crossed.
Maderdog i'll keep you in mind if thats ok.
Thanks Griff
PS just been reading on bandit alley about diy cdi repairs! I'm not too bad with a soldering iron (did my Frontera dash with excellent results) and i can get the capacitors for less than £1 so sod it i'll give that a go! Nothing to lose as the cdi is knackered anyway!!
