Re: Battery not charging - help please
New reg/rec arrived this morning. It looks the same as the OEM part, except for some coolling fins on the outside which I hope will make it last a bit longer!
5 minutes later and it was fitted to the bike, and 14.3V showing at the battery with the engine running - result!
Reg/rec cost me £40 from e-bay, here:

Thanks again for all the advice!
Alex.

Re: Battery not charging - help please
Good news!
Mine still works but is the Reg/Rec a good spare part to take on a longer trip in case it goes wrong?
Cheers, Mansie

Re: Battery not charging - help please
Hi all,
I wonder could I ask a question on this topic. I've a '95 cb400sf putting out 12.8v at 5000 revs and I've a donor '96 cb400sf outputting 14v. Noticed that the yellow wires coming from the stator are going to different pins on the reg/rec of the two bikes. Should they be terminating on the same pin on both bikes ?
Secondly also while running the engine and checking out some readings highlighted in the troubleshooting doc posted, noticed that the yellow wires in the '95 bike were extremely hot to touch ? Should this be the case ?
Anyhoo, I'd really appreciate any info you could pass on to me.
Thanks in advance.
Gareth
