Since the bike is in Fred Flinstone trim I thought I'd give an update. A couple of months ago to took the egine in to be looked at. Everything was going good until we discovered very little compression in one cylinder. Once fully pulled a part the egine needed a whole new set of valves. So, $800 in parts later she is buttoned up and ready to go back in the frame. I'd like to thank the US governmnet for devaluating the dollar to not much more than a damn peso. Since it was apart I couldn't resist letting the mechanic do some mild head work.

The frame got new bearings all around. The shock was rebuilt and the forks freshened up. The brakes were a mess so I rebuilt those as well.

Next on the shopping list is a full exhaust system. I really blew it, there was a rare Autorimessa system on Yahoo Auctions Japan and I tried to bargain hunt and someone else got it. Anyone have an aftermarket system they like to sell? I've really been surprised how many one off parts the GK76 has and how rare parts are for them. Makes my VJ23 parts look darn right common.

This is what she looked like to begin with. She had been neglected for quite some time.

Engine went back in with minimal fuss.

The hunt now begins for a full exhaust. Yamamoto in Japan still makes them and you can purchase direct so that may be an option.

yamamoto are ridiculously expensive to buy let alone ship. Every one i have seen the fit and quality wasn perfect.
How much performance are you wanting to achieve? yamamote don't make much power over standard and a pig to set up

Stripes,
That is great info. I know the darn things are expensive but I had not heard about quality from anyone. That is dissapointing to hear considering the price. I'm not after power really, I just don't want the boat anchor stock ones. I use Yahoo Auctions Japan all the time but it has just been garbage lately. I had a chance at a true set of kit pipes (Autorimess/Racin Function) but tried to low ball the guy and lost them. Lesson learned!

Sandybikespares on ebay in the uk. Stainless headers that are alot lighter than standard.
Not as light as mine but mine are one off's. Cheaper to buy than Japan and easy to be shipped even if the seller won't ship out of the uk i'm sure one of us can.

I was just looking at those. Not a fan of the looks but you can't beat that price. It looks like you have to still use a mid pipe with them?

Has anyone ever seen a set of pipes for the 76 that look like this. They are in Japan and I've messaged the shop and they swear they came off a GK76. They look quite different than anything I've seen and the muffler looks like a stock Suzuki item.

Never seen a pipe like that on a 400 before, looks very similar to the srad 600 style of pipe. Some selleres are'nt very helpfull but if they will supply the mounting stud spacing and spacing between the ports it would give a good idea of it fitting.
The white wheels set ya bike off much better than the old color. :peace:
