I Prefer using a 150 rear its seems more nimble changing direction i run michelin power one's they are awesome but the most expensive tyres you can get without going into race slicks.

that would be on an 17" rim, or do they make that tyre for us with 18's......... Mines bigger than yours hehehe

Cant believe how many people use Z rated tyres, they just wont warm up as they should.. Best tyre I have used in the last few years is the Dunlop Alpha 10 both on Road and Track

But where i live 35-40 degree Thailand) The Z's would warm up in no time? :)

I have some BT016 on the ZX7r and they have been great. wearing well and pretty stable.

I might try them on some 18 inch fitment but I think 160/60 on an 18 looks too large - balloon like!

?? Balloon like? Tyre is like 5mm wider either side, assuming it is not a thin 160mm? Different tyre manufacturers, different widths... hardly noticeable when they are side-by-side?

Old 150/60 BT090 with a new 160/60 BT016...

I ended up getting a Bridgestone BT090 150/60/18 H today.
Aware 'H' rated tyres warm up quicker, but here in Thailand, after a quick commute back to my house from the tyre shop, the rear was on fire..... Super stick licky

After looking at the original rear tyre a little closer, i actually noticed a number 10 and a little alpha sign, so i can also report back that the Dunlop Alpha 10's are a good tyre too :)

If you use a 160 rear tyre on a RVF NC35 then you will find the chain will kiss the side edge of the tyre. I used a BT090 160 tyre from Knockhill to Tyrone after destroying and not being able to get another 150 tyre there. Although not dangerous I would be concerned about damaging the chain long term so I would recommend the 520 chain conversion to stop the contact with the tyre. As for side grip the 160 did give more but the profile makes it slower to flick over but really how much side grip do you need on the roads better for the track I think.

I agree with the previous post. My NC30 had a 160 on when I bought it and it was fouling the chain and there was also some evidence of it having fouled the undertray too.

I wasn't comfortable with this and swapped to a 150. Shame you're not local as I've got a barely worn 160 sat in the garage (but then you wouldn't have 35 degree temperatures)!

To be honest, i would love to have some UK weather right now, far to hot to ride the bike in the afternoons here at the moment.
As for the tyre, i think i made a good choice with the 150 bt090, it feels great and inspires confidence when cornering at speed :)
I have however had a little rubbing from the chain, i will adjust it again tonight (new chain, prob stretched a little) and see how i get on.
