The only way to get them off is to grind them in half then, sounds easy.

Haha! Yep, but that assumes you have one of RCV4's Stainless Steel boxes to go back on!

If not you'll still need to get the engine out :)

There is a better or maybe just different way to get the engine out of an NC24 which i found useful.

If you lift the front wheel off the floor until the front engine support bars which are just below the headstock are vertical the engine will drop out all but straight down, its a lot easier as there is less wiggling to do. If you do it with the bike flat on the floor the support bars hit various parts of the engine and make it a difficult job. I was able to put the engine back in on my own whereas taking it out straight took 3 people.

Ive only done it twice though so those with more experience must know better.

Last time I removed an engine I supported the sump / collectorbox on a well placed block.

Undone all the engine bolts and loom / coils / rad pipes / basically anything that could snag / get in the way.

With me and a friend lifted the bike (front wheel / back wheel) up and over the engine.

That's a good idea, must try that next time.
I did mine myself with the aid of a car jack,bits of wood and a rope over the beam of my brothers garage, an awkward job to say the least. putting it back was a pain too. I have done this about 5 times now so nearly into the way of it now.

Oh right, abit more than i can spend at the moment, allthough worth it in the long run.

The engine removal guide is superb and i will be using it before to long. Im going to give the bike a full service at the same time as replacing the collector box i think.

i brought a set of the stainless pipes from rcv4 and they are top quality well worth the 300 i paid which was the front pipes aswell as the rears and collector they are worth the money as if you spent x amount on a set of mild steel ones in a few years on our salty roads you will be back to square one
