Re: Rothmans NC35 Nearly Finished!
Will have to get some recent pics up as have now put the finishing touches to the bike.
trying to find a dry patch outside to take some though!
I have touched in some chips on the paintwork and re-laquered everything apart from the rear fairing and the mudguard. Looks a lot better.
The fairings are from motofairings, and as people have mentioned, the quality is only reasonable.
Found that the paint chips off really easily - particularly where youre fixing to the bike. I am now using some plastic washers to try and reduce this.
It seems that there is only one coat of paint, and there is no primer beneath, so the paint does have a tendancy to look thin in places and quite brittle.
I decided to flat back the laquer and touch in where the chips/cracked paint was as i had some left over from the tank paint job.
Then put a couple of thick 2k laquer coats on which should give a lot better protection against chips and stress cracking.
Not looking too bad at all now with the laquer giving a deep gloss that was missing from the original ebay job.
Only niggling point (apart from my back to front wings!!
) is where the mid panels join the top fairing. The lines aren't as tight as i'd like, but i guess you cant have everything for £300.
Really only the petrol cap to spray gold, along with the disc centres and maybe the calipers.
But this can wait til winter along with the white wheels, as i want to be ready to take advantage of any good weather that there might be left this year (yeah right!)
